Roderick Cordara has chambers in London and Sydney.  He took silk in the UK in 1994 and in Australia in 2002. He has over 30 years’ experience in international commercial arbitration and litigation, in which he acts both as counsel and arbitrator. He has particular expertise in international disputes in the shipping, shipbuilding, marine insurance and energy exploration/production sectors.   Apart from general ‘dry’ shipping work, he has specialised in shipbuilding disputes, both in arbitration and the Courts, acting for and against European and Far Eastern Yards.   He was Counsel for the Yard in the well-known Stocnzia Gdanska case. He led for the Owners, also successfully, in the longest shipbuilding arbitration held in London, the Solitaire.  He also advises on the drafting of shipbuilding contracts.  He has also acted in UK Government enquiries as to major casualties, and advises on indirect tax issues in connection with the shipping industry.
