Palumbo Shipyard has been in the shiprepair industry for over forty-five years. The Company was founded in 1967 and started its activity in the shiprepair field operating now in construction, refit, repair and maintenance of every type of vessel in its four shipyards in Naples, Messina and with two yards in Malta, as well as in Marseille and in Monaco. During the last years, the Company has been expanding its core business, through the creation of a platform in the heart of the Mediterranean, building a network in the shiprepair industry and also in the offshore sector where the shipyard performed complete major projects, including refits to semi-submersible oil rigs, crane barges, Wind Turbine Installation vessels, Seismic and offshore supply, and also drill ships for some of the most important Companies in the field. Such logistic platform has the technical and timing ability required to satisfy any Owners’ demands, providing them, at the same time, with the widest and most complete range of services. The Company invested a lot in professionalism, reaching very high professional level of its technical staff working with quality systems and safety in accordance with ISO 9001 certification and the OHSAS 18001, the health and safety management system certification. Thanks to them, Palumbo Group is even more competitive and able to show its improved service levels, with faster turnaround times. With Malta Shipyard acquisition, nowadays, Palumbo manages an extended platform comprising ten dry- docks ranging from 40 meters up to maximum 360 meters in length, 5.000 meters of quays and an operational area covering about 500.000 square meters, offering a substantial range of products to the general maritime, shiprepair, and specifically to offshore and energy, yachting and conversion sectors from its network of shipyards in the centre of Mediterranean.
Now, after three generations, it has changed its internal organization from a family run business to a business run by a Board of Directors and a very agile corporate structure. Having built a strong reputation on the commercial market, 45 years from its foundation, the Group started looking for new areas of expansion and decided to move into the highly competitive superyacht arena.

In 2008 Palumbo started the construction of its first superyacht under the Columbus Yachts brand in a new purpose-built facility in Naples. Following her presentation at the 2011 Monaco Yacht Show, MY Prima, a modern classic, was an immediate success. In fact, she was awarded by Rina with Green Star Plus Platinum, for the environmentally commitment in her construction and at World Superyachts Awards held in Istanbul in 2012.

The hallmark of the Columbus Yachts is a gratification for the environment in terms of construction materials equipment and performance in addition to giving clients excellent value for money. The Group’s 45 years of experience and know-how, the long-standing competent in-house workforce, comprehensive procurement practices and large network of top industry suppliers, position the Group as one of the most interesting new players in the superyacht market today.Palumbo Group establishes itself, on the international scenario as an “unicum” for competence and competitiveness, not only in shiprepair field, but also in the super yachts building with a its own projects line, ranging from 25 up to 100 meters. Recently launched the second 40 meters of Sport Hybrid Line and a 56 meters, under construction a 65 meters of Classic Line with delivery respectively in 2016. Now that the operating platform is consolidated, the shipyard’s goal is also to provide the Owners with a commercial platform enlarging and strengthening customer portfolio also settling a new basis in Monaco.
