Based in Monaco, Ian leads the firm’s team in the Principality and also heads up our Italy team. He has worked in the region for over 20 years.

A Partner since 2000, Ian advises clients in the shipping, international trade and commodities, and energy and offshore sectors and is a member of the firm’s yacht group. He represents clients both in court proceedings and in international arbitrations, often with significant technical content.

Ian’s clients include many of the world’s leading shipowners, charterers, traders and their H&M, P&I and FD&D insurers whom he advises on both wet and dry shipping matters. His shipping expertise covers charterparty, bill of lading and admiralty investigations and disputes, carriage of goods by sea, sale and purchase of new and second-hand tonnage and newbuilding contracts.

Ian acts for a number of major international trading companies, advising them on all aspects of transactions including sale and transportation of commodities, physical and paper contracts, freight forwarding agreements, financing, insurance, hedging and disputes relating to all areas of their businesses.
